Preparation Is Very Important

1. Making a good video content is just like COOKING. We need to prepare the right ingredient before we can start cooking.

2. Just like in video production where we need the best 'ingredient' before we start shooting.

3. That is why the whole process of video production comprises of pre-production, production and post-production.

4. So, a proper preparation is highly recommended before we start any video project. Imagine how the final video will blow your audience mind and nothing will satisfy more when they give a standing ovation.

5. Below, is a sample of launching video - means after the ceremony is officiated, the video will be played as part of the launching gimmick. And after watching the video, they gave a standing ovation.

6. This is a sample of Video Launch by one of government agency in Malaysia which is NAHRIM. The video was played during their water Knowledge Hub conference, launched by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment somewhere in December 2008 at Equatorial Hotel. There were 12 delegations from 12 different countries. We re-edited the video from An Inconvenient Truth and making it a little more impact for the audience. After that, we highlighted the role from each country. The flow is something like this : Problems - Issues - Whats Happening - How to Overcome the Problem.

3.  Jadi, sekiranya anda inginkan kupasan lanjut, anda tahu apa yang patut anda lakukan. :)

Work With Passion and Patience

1. Editing a video needs a lot of patience and passion. You need a creative sense of audio and visual art to ensure your audiences keep their eyes open to watch your video.

2. It is also often referred to as the "invisible art" because when it is well-practiced, the viewer can become so engaged that he or she is not even aware of the editor's work.

3. Editing involves the selection and combining of shots into sequences, and ultimately creating a finished video. That's why it is a very important part of storytelling.

4. A video editor must creatively work with the layers of images, story, dialogue, music, pacing, as well as the actors' performances to effectively "re-imagine" and even rewrite the video to craft a cohesive whole. Editors usually play a dynamic role in the making of a video.

5. Choosing the right editing software is also another issue. There are lots of editing software out there you can choose from. Choose a suitable software you can operate or maybe you can use few software and combined them. For me, I am very comfortable in using Sony Vegas. I did a 26 episodes of TV magazine series 100% using this software. And numbers of corporate videos as well.

6. Editing is an art that can be used in diverse ways. It can create sensually provocative montages; become a laboratory for experimental cinema; bring out the emotional truth in an actor's performance; create a point of view on otherwise obtuse events; guide the telling and pace of a story; create an illusion of danger where there is none; give emphasis to things that would not have otherwise been noted; and even create a vital subconscious emotional connection to the viewer, among many other possibilities.

7.  Of course if you need to edit a video, you need a high level of patience and also full of passion. And most of all, you'll need to know the whole phases of video production ; from shooting, directing, continuity, music, sound and many more.

8. It may sounds not easy to edit a video.  But if you have what it takes, you will know what to take.

9. Video below was edited 100% using Sony Vegas 7.

Sharing Session

I will be conducting a two-days sharing session about videography for a small group of students aged 10 to 17.

WHY ?
Taking into consideration that 'vlog' is a common thing in this era, I think it is a good session for those who want to express their thoughts, feelings or anything.

SHARING WHAT ?
Among the topics to be shared are :
1. Correct your eyes, knowing the camera.
2. Story building.
3. Angles and camera movements.
4. Positioning and compositioning.
5. Editing on camera.
6. You're on TV ! Tell your stories.
7. Introduction to videography and video entreprenuer.

Why introduction to videography to be shared during the last session ? Well, I have my own reasons.

WHO AM I ?
I was involved in TV/Video industry since 1995, after graduated from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia in Bachelor of Science (Human Development) .
I produced drama series in 1996 and then worked as a Programme Maker in Worldview Media SB, producing various 5-minutes documentaries about Malaysian culture, environment, people, dying business trade and many more until 1999.
Then, I worked in the 3rd largest bank in Malaysia, to expand my people's skills and networking.
Year 2005, I became a full time video entrepreneur and freelance till today.
Today, I write script, especially for local animation series, voice over, audio recording, video editing, videographer, scriptwriter, director, executive producer and would do anything in the field video and TV industry, local and international .
One thing that I think I will never do as far as TV/video industries are concerned - appear in front of the camera ! Because I hate to see myself on screen .. :)
(p/s : as of today, that's what I have in mind. Maybe someday, I will let my face to be appeared.. haha..)

SO ?
If you are interested to know more, please do not hesitate to email me with "VIDEO SHARING SESSION" in the subject line.
